Parks and Recreation
The City of Frostburg owns and maintains seven parks and approximately 145 acres of land located within City Limits. Park facilities include twelve athletic fields, seven pavilions, five playgrounds, a full-size indoor basketball court, four outdoor basketball courts, walking trails, a rifle/pistol range, two fishing ponds annually stocked with trout, a sand volleyball court, a 13,050 square foot swimming pool, two indoor event facilities, an outdoor amphitheater, a dog park, a bike trail connector to the Great Allegheny Passage, and seven concessions buildings. The City of Frostburg's park and rec facilities have over 330,000 visitors per year. In addition to the many facilities owned and operated by the Parks and Recreation Department, the department also operates a summer day camp from June to August for children ages 5-12 y/o. There are 9 different sports leagues encompassing six different sports that operate within the City. Most facilities are available to rent for private functions. The Park and Recreation Department has an elected commissioner, a full-time staff of four employees, a summer seasonal staff of 30 employees, and a five-member Parks & Recreation Commission that serves as an advisory board.
